Every summer I spend a couple weeks in Oregon. It's one of my favorite times of the year where I get to spend time with family, friends and exploring the great Northwest. My boyfriend was able to join me this last trip and since we were out there we meet up with Jessica and her husband and traded photo sessions. It was fun to get our photos taken and bounce different ideas off of each other. See the photos that she took of us over on her blog!
My time here in DC has been pretty short. When I head to Texas it will be a total of five months. That's not a long time! Since I knew I wouldn't be here long I didn't try to find too much work, but I had the amazing privilege of photographing this beautiful family last month. Jenny is another photographer in the area and has one lovely family, don't you agree?
As Seen on Style Me Pretty
Last spring I sat down with my friend Chandler and started dumping all these ideas of what I wanted to do with my business, through all of that this shoot was born. I love storytelling and was struggling with styled shoots lacking in that. So we found a real couple, photographed them in their home and created a shoot around their lives. Blending lifestyle and wedding through this Anniversary and Vow Renewal session.
There is something so beautiful and simple about capturing people in their homes and there are fewer things I love more. Authenticity flows through these shoots and they really celebrate the small things in life. Things we so often look over or take advantage of.
Carla is a good friend of mine and when she asked me if I could capture her and her husband in their first home I couldn't have been more excited. We spent the afternoon hanging out, she made me lunch and I just got to capture them being them.
2016 I hope that I can get better at blogging, there's so many shoots I've done throughout the last couple of months that I have not shared and this is one of them. Last month our Tuesday Together group put together a styled dinner. If you're not familiar with Tuesday Together it's local creative groups put together by the Rising Tide Society. They promote Community over Competition and are about encouraging one another creatively. It was so awesome to see vision come to life and to get to share a meal with so many amazing people.
